Queer Pedagogies and Pedagogy for LGBTQ Instructors

Queer Pedagogies and Pedagogy for LGBTQ Instructors

Monday, Sept 11
The Graduate Center, CUNY, Room C204

6:00pm–8:00pm
This event will be livestreamed with captioning service: bit.ly/fight4edu-live

In this conversation for educators who are LGBTQ or allies, moderators María R. Scharrón-del Río (Associate Professor, Brooklyn College, CUNY), Kalle Westerling (Ph.D. Candidate and Futures Initiative Fellow, the Graduate Center, CUNY), and Stephanie Hsu (Associate Professor, Pace University), ask you:

  • What are your pedagogical priorities now? How have they changed?
  • What do we need to unlearn? Where does learning start?
  • What does intersectionality really mean? How have we gotten it wrong so far?
  • How do you take care of yourself? How will you perform self-care this semester?

Hear from other educators (graduate, undergraduate, and K-12 welcome), share practical resources, and fortify your heart for teaching at this inaugural event of CLAGS’s Queer Pedagogy Network. Registration for this event is required. Co-sponsored by the Futures Initiative and CLAGS: The Center for LGBTQ Studies.
