Next Dialogue:

Understanding the IRB, Part I
Thursday, October 12 | 12:00pm-2:00pm | The Graduate Center, CUNY | Room 9204

Featuring:
Marianna Azar, Graduate Center Human Research Protection Program Manager
Jessica Murray, Ph.D. Student in Human Development and FI Graduate Fellow

This conversation, part of the Thursday Dialogues series organized by the Futures Initiative, will be the first of two discussions that focus on the Institutional Review Board (IRB). CUNY, a federally funded public institution, has three review boards, all of which are regulated by federal regulations and institutional policies on research involving human subjects. These guidelines have determined IRB processes since they were codified into the Common Rule in 1991, with the intention of standardizing research with human subjects across a number of fields, and determining research protections, policies, and practices. We hope that a discussion of these processes and regulations will enlighten members of the community who are conducting research, and we encourage participants to add their questions and insights to the dialogue. Please join us for a informal brownbag lunch; no RSVP required.

Upcoming Dialogues:

October 19: From Dissertation to First Book
December 7: Landing An Industry Job by Leveraging your Academic Experience

Save the Dates for Spring 2018: 2/8, 3/1, 3/15, 4/19, 5/3, topics to be announced.
