Extra Credit

The mission of this new CUNY campus is to create an appropriate environment for students to think and innovate. It will provide a variety of courses which students can choose according to their needs. These courses aim at training their skills and form critical thinking. Questions and discussion are welcomed as long as students want to ask. The most important point is that students can ask,  think and solve problems by themselves or with other people, not doing nothing or just imitating.

At the same time, tuition of this new campus is affordable to most students, because it will be low. Students can also apply for funding for it. Tuition shouldn’t be obstacle on their ways. Students can learn without worrying about tuition, and they can study more effectively. This is also one mission of the new CUNY campus.

  1. I love this, Jiewen! I am especially intrigued by this sentence: “the most important point is that students can ask, think and solve problems by themselves or with other people, not doing nothing or just imitating.” Why is this so important at your school? In class we discussed how it is often more expensive to have an intimate learning environment with a low teacher-student ratio. How are you going to create this problem-solving environment without drastically raising the costs of education?
