Bridge Scholars

Suggestion from Today’s Workshop!

March 12, 2015 in uncategorized by Ann Marie Hennessy

I asked Rachel today if there was any way to check out a different major’s class. And I admit although it seemed obvious when she recommended that I contact the professor or head of department asking if I could sit in on a class, I hadn’t thought of that.

I was thinking big picture, let’s all explore! I am one of several Bridge students unsure if they are in the best program for them. I’m guessing that a hundred requests to “sit in on a class” wouldn’t be accommodated, maybe the occasional one would…

So maybe sometimes it is better to think small (individual)…or maybe not.

Any success with this kind of thing?

Where can I get a locker?

Info for PTA and RN students at LaGuardia about Math 96

March 11, 2015 in uncategorized by Ann Marie Hennessy

Hey all,

On the Saturday evening before my Spring 1 (2015) classes started I received an email from the Math department.

Subject Line: YOU DON’T HAVE TO TAKE MAT 96!

Since I had decided to spend one whole semester to clear this horrible and redundant requirement I was delighted. I’m a PTA major, not very much algebra needed, so, if in slight disbelief (remember Saturday night before classes start, party night!) I hurried home and signed up for MAT 119, dropped MAT 96 and found myself in a 3 credit course that would fulfill two requirements! I saved time and money!

For any other Bridge students out there (also faculty/advisers) please stay informed of the options! If I had known this in my first semester I would have saved a lot of time and frustration. However, I’m a firm believer in things working out for the best, so I see another lesson here for all involved.

There is also MAT 117 for another program, but I don’t know the details. I had to delete all the H’s because it is shown on the Enroll form as MAT… Forever worrying about mistakes…
