My research question is: What effect does diet have on autism?
My goal in researching this question is to determine whether or not the removal (or introduction) of certain foods will have any effect on the severity of autism in a person. As an aspiring Occupational Therapist, who intends on working with special needs children, I find it interesting that there have been recent studies on whether or not children with autism could be "cured" by the removal of substances such as gluten or dairy from their diet. I hope to determine whether or not diet can truly transform someone from very low functioning (that is, unable to survive on their own in a personal or professional environment) to moderately or highly functioning.
Kingsborough students are extraordinarily dedicated to their work, both in and out of school. Many balance full time jobs as well as their education and taking care of their families. It's been an amazing experience here at KCC to watch how myself and others are able to thrive in this school.
