I think is a really great lesson plan, and I’m thinking about possibly adapting at least one of the mini-lessons since I plan on spending time on diversity and discrimination in the workplace. I love the point about Blackboard’s limited usefulness in terms of professional development. Plus I’ve always felt that the interface and functionality leave much to be desired. Some of our master teachers at CUNY who teach online have found that there is sometimes problems with feedback when they are web-conferencing with multiple students at once. This can often be circumvented by having students mute their microphones and to use the features that allow them to type a question. This is a bit like raising your hand in class – the teacher notices who has their hand up and can invite them to turn their microphone on and speak.
